# Offsider docs
Offsider puts small HTML apps in native Mac windows beside your work. An AI agent or
terminal command opens a panel, sends it data, and listens for events. Each panel declares the
tools it can run.
## Get started
[Install Offsider](/docs/install.md), then create your first panel:
```sh
offsider init my-checklist
offsider open my-checklist --input '{"items":["Try Offsider"]}'
```
Keep the opening terminal running. In another terminal, try `offsider list`, then
`offsider close my-checklist`.
## Build a panel
- [Panel overview and commands](/docs/panels/index.md)
- [The manifest: panel.json](/docs/panels/manifest.md)
- [The JavaScript API](/docs/panels/api.md)
- [Tools and live data](/docs/panels/tools.md)
- [Headers and backgrounds](/docs/panels/titlebar.md)
- [The sandbox](/docs/panels/security.md)
## Use it with your agent
Read [AI agent workflows](/integration.md) for opening panels, handling events, and connecting tools.
The panel reference also ships with the Mac app. Run `offsider docs` to read it in your terminal.
